Although most commonly thought of as the financial capital of Germany, Frankfurt also hosts a number of organizations that put purpose before profit. The main office of GIZ, one of Germany’s largest organizations working on international cooperation for sustainable development, is based in Eschborn in the outskirts of Frankfurt.
It’s also home to Yunus Social Business, an organization founded by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Prof. Muhammad Yunus, the so-called grandfather of social business, which provides philanthropic funds to social businesses working to alleviate poverty around the world.
